Column 4: searching for the purpose
In the Robinson's most updated column, the veteran Washington poster delves into the ghosts of political offices past and the predictions of political offices future. This article is central around Jeb Bush's latest remarks on foreign policy. In The Bush legacy lives on, Robinson makes his opinion clear; to question everything (question politicians' intentions, their words, and their plans). His purpose is to criticize the Bush legacy and Jeb in particular, especially in reference to his recent commentary on international affairs and his chances at the up and coming presidential election. He takes advantage of characterizing Bush by reflecting on his mistakes more than his success as well as his family's notorious political dealings, and his extreme nature. Robinson points out his flaws to deter the pool of eligible voters from supporting continuing the Bush legacy. The column's purpose is personal in its conviction, which can normally be said to be judgmental and not valid in any decision making. But due to it being an opinion piece, his writing can stand on its own as a reliable source to be included when thinking about politics in the media and the function of government. Robinson's position is worth his time, through all the Bush legacy, and his acquired wisdom, factual and otherwise. His position on the matter, although negative, has undoubted evidence and a present goal throughout; to negate Jeb Bush hopefuls from thinking that the third time is a charm.
